Sashemani Elliott graduated from Concordia-NY with a Bachelor’s in Childhood Education. She earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and Technology from Adelphi University and holds a New York State School Building Leader Certification.
In August 2011, Sasha joined Amber Charter School in East Harlem as Dean of Students and Testing Coordinator. Soon after she was promoted to Assistant Principal, and in 2014 she took on the role of Principal. Before Ms. Sasha’s work at Amber, she taught 5th and 6th grade at Grace Lutheran School in Malverne, NY.
Ms. Sasha has presented professional development workshops at local, state and national conferences in such topics as anti-bullying, social studies in the classroom, creating interim assessments, effective leadership, differentiated instruction, and the common core standards. She serves on the board of the Center for Urban Education Ministries which is under the umbrella of Lutheran Social Services, and in 2015 received the Principal of the Year Award from National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Theta Chapter.
