A STEM workshop for preschool educators will be held on Monday, March 2nd at 5:30 pm at Trinity Hicksville.
Title: Integrating STEM into the Preschool Curriculum
Workshop Facilitator: Dr Amy Catalano is a Professor of Teaching, Learning and Technology at Hofstra University. She is the director of elementary and secondary science and teaches elementary science teaching methods and research design. She also runs the Hofstra summer STEM program for elementary school girls. Her expertise is in integrating engineering design into multidisciplinary curricula.
Description: This hands-on workshop will provide preschool teachers with several examples of engineering design challenges that can be integrated into the STEM curriculum for young children. We will discuss developmentally appropriate practice and what the new NY State Science Standards say about preschoolers and science.
Registration is limited to 30 participants for this hands-on workshop and supplies need to be ordered so please preregister by 2/24 by emailing me at lauralabenberg@lsany.org. Checks can then be made out to and mailed to LSA 171 White Plains Road Bronxville NY 10708.
$20 p/p. Professional Development credit and a certificate for 2 hours will be given to each participant.
